Friday Quick Hits
Friday Random Quick Hits:
-If you choose to work at your school building, you MUST follow safety guidelines: maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet, wear a mask when around others, wash hands often, and not share equipment.
-There was not an insurance premium deduction for 10-month or 11-month employees on this paycheck. Those will begin Aug. 21st.
-There will be a step increase for eligible employees that will go into effect once Metro Government certifies that the MNPS fund balance reserve will remain above 3%. That will not happen until later in August. Pay will be retroactive to the beginning of the school year.
-The due date for CLIPS is August 17th. If you need support in getting these completed, please reach out to your EE coach or the district EE department.
-If you teach HS and your subject does not have an online curriculum, email the district contact for support. If you don’t know who that is, MNEA members can email info@mnea.com to request a list.
-You are not required to use your personal phone to contact students and families. Use the calls feature on TEAMS. Enter the name of the person you wish to call in the search box.
-If you have a student or family who needs tech support and you don’t know how to help them, direct them here: https://www.mnps.org/tech-support or 615-269-5956 (7AM-7PM).
-If you need help with translation, call 615-259-8787 (8AM-4:30PM).
-You are not mandated to attend any in-person meetings or events.
-TEAM evaluation walk-throughs have NOT begun. If your principal joins a synchronous lesson, they are just popping in like they would to your classroom. This should NOT be recorded in TN Compass. More guidance on what evaluations will look like this year is forthcoming.
-You are not expected to teach a synchronous lesson and then record yourself at a separate time to post in Schoology. Do not worry about posting live teaching lessons next week. District training and guidance on how to do this without violating FERPA is coming soon.
-Principals were emailed an FAQ with links to resources on Monday. If your principal didn’t forward it to you, you can ask them for a copy or if you’re a member of MNEA, email info@mnea.com and request a copy.
-If you have content questions, join the Schoology group for that content area or email the district lead. They are eager to help you! If you’re not sure who you should contact, MNEA members can email us and we will point you in the right direction.
-Principals were allowed to swap the August 6th planning day for the November 3rd school-based PD/teacher planning day. If you had ½ PD & ½ planning on August 6th, you will have a full planning day on November 3rd.
-If you are not a member of MNEA, we invite you to join. Go to https://mnea.com/join-mnea
and complete step 1 to pay dues via payroll deduction. We will email an electronic form to you. If you would like to pay dues via credit card or bank draft, complete steps 1 & 2.
