Metropolitan Nashville Education Foundation Scholarship Fund
Our scholarships are for MNPS graduating seniors.
The Spring 2024 scholarship application process is Now Open.
The Metropolitan Nashville Education Foundation (MNEF) was incorporated in 1964 under the name “Metropolitan Nashville Education Fund, Inc.” The Foundation administers two funds that grant three scholarships to graduates of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools wishing to become public-school teachers. Contributions are tax-deductible under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.
Johnella H. Martin Fund is named for a distinguished former president of MNEA who was dedicated to teachers, students and the newly created Metropolitan Nashville Public School System. The Johnella H. Martin Fund is a renewable scholarship that students can receive each year of a four-year undergraduate program of studies or for up to five years if enrolled in a formal five-year higher education program in education.
The Metropolitan Nashville Education Fund General Scholarship and the MNEF Academies of Nashville Scholarship are granted on a one-time basis to freshman college students to help with expenses. The General Scholarship is available to all MNPS graduates. For the Academies of Nashville Scholarship, preference will be given to graduates of the MNPS Teaching Academies.
Tax-free donations to MNEF, interest from the Foundation’s endowments and other money are combined to provide scholarship grants to deserving MNPS students who are committed to becoming school teachers in MNPS.
