Many teachers were heaving a sigh of relief at the news that a state chancery court judge had struck down the July 27th referendum that would have not only canceled the most recent raises, but slashed MNPS to the point of being almost unrecognizable. However, it is important to understand we are not completely out of the woods yet.
There is a good possibility that the court’s decision will be appealed by the Davidson County Election Commission, at which point the vote on the referendum will be deferred, but not gone for good.
What Happens Next?
The Election Commission meets Friday, June 26th at 2 pm to decide if it will appeal the decision or not. You can find more information on the meeting here.
