Answering Letters of Intent
Letters of Intent are not legally binding. If you intend to teach during the 2021-2022 school year and you DO NOT have a signed contract or email from MNPS HR confirming placement in another position, mark that you intend to continue teaching at the school where you currently teach.
This does not preclude you from being able to seek employment elsewhere or from transferring to a different position within the district.
Your circumstances may change between now and the end of the school year (think back to February 2020!). You do not want to be non-renewed based on completing a Letter of Intent that states your intention is to resign your current position or transfer within the district.
If you receive a confirmed job offer for a different position, THEN you can notify your principal of your intent to leave your current position.
We don’t always see or get your comments, tags, or DMs. Please email info@mnea.com for assistance.
