FYI- Updates on the return to in-person

For Your Information

If your teaching assignment is 100% virtual, you may continue to work from home or school. It is your choice. This guidance has not changed from earlier in the year.

If you are a high school or middle school teacher and you do not teach 5th or 9th graders, you are not required to return when 5th and 9th graders begin in-person classes. You are only required to return when the students you teach return to in-person classes.

If your classroom is prepped and ready for in-person instruction, you may work at home on the asynchronous day prior to students returning.

Get a COVID test as close as possible to the date you will return to working in-person so you have a record of a negative test. https://mnea.com/mnea-blog/oji

If you have a signed accommodations form from earlier this year, those accommodations are still in effect. If modifications to the agreement need to be made, there must be a meeting where all parties agree on new accommodations and sign a form signifying agreement. If you need an accommodation, there is a process to follow. https://mnea.com/mnea-blog/accommodations

COVID Compliance Monitors will be called COVID Operations Support. Their job is to ensure CDC and health/safety guidelines are being followed so you can focus on teaching. They are in buildings to HELP you. They are not there in any supervisory capacity over teachers. If you need assistance with CDC and/or health and safety guidelines, ask them for help.

The TEAMS meeting chat feature can now be disabled. This can be done before a meeting starts or disabled and re-enabled during a meeting.

FFCRA (federal COVID leave) was not extended by the federal government past 12/31/20. MNPS will continue to code for teachers and staff who are quarantined or sent home due to close contact exposure of the Covid-19 virus. If you need time off related to COVID, notify your admin and bookkeeper so any days you are off can be coded properly.

Extended FMLA was not extended by the federal government past 12/31/20. There is no longer a provision for 2/3 salary or pay for childcare/care of a family member.

TEAM evaluations are continuing because the state has not made any changes that would allow MNPS to opt out. LOEs will not be calculated unless 80% of MNPS student take TN Ready testing in-person (new state law).

If a teacher is absent and you cover all or part of that class, you will receive in lieu of sub pay. It does not matter if it is in-person or virtual. Notify your bookkeeper each time you cover a class so you can receive in lieu of sub pay.
