May Day 2026: Educators and Workers Rising Together in Nashville
On Friday, May 1, 2026, educators and workers across Nashville will join a nationwide movement for fairness, dignity, and respect on the job. May Day has long been a symbol of worker solidarity—and this year, it comes at a time when the voices of working people are more important than ever.
The theme is clear: Workers Over Billionaires.
Public school educators see firsthand how economic policies impact students, families, and communities. When working families struggle, it shows up in our classrooms—through increased stress, absenteeism, and unmet needs.
May Day is about standing together to advocate for:
Strong public schools
Fair wages and working conditions
Safe, supportive communities
Respect for workers’ rights
Educators across Metro Nashville are encouraged to participate in coordinated actions throughout the day:
Walk-In before contract hours
Show unity and visibility as you enter your school together.
Walk-Out after contract hours
Stand in solidarity while honoring your professional responsibilities.
Billionaire Bus Tour (1:00–3:00 PM)
Highlight economic disparities and bring attention to the need for equitable policies.
Union Rally at Centennial Park (4:00–7:00 PM)
Join fellow educators, labor unions, and community members for a powerful collective gathering.
This is more than a single event—it’s part of a broader, nationwide day of action. Organizations across Nashville, including labor groups and community advocates, are coming together to amplify a shared message: working people deserve a fair economy.
Join your colleagues for the walk-in and walk-out
Attend the rally at Centennial Park
Share information with your network
Show visible support for public education and workers
May Day reminds us that change doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens when people come together with a shared purpose. As educators, we play a vital role not only in our classrooms, but in shaping the future of our communities.
On May 1, stand with your colleagues. Stand with your students and their families. Stand for a stronger, more equitable future.

FRIDAY MAY 1ST-WALK-INS The Metro Nashville Education Association (MNEA) is proud to stand with educators, students, and communities through MNEA Walk-Ins; a powerful show of unity and commitment to public education.
Walk-Ins are a simple but impactful way for educators and supporters to come together before the start of the school day, gathering outside their schools to demonstrate support for students, public education, and the resources schools need to thrive. Across Nashville and beyond, these actions highlight the collective voice of those who believe every student deserves a well-supported, fully funded public school.
MNEA Walk-Ins are about more than visibility; they’re about solidarity. When educators, parents, students, and community members stand side by side, it sends a clear message: strong schools build strong communities. These events create space for connection, conversation, and shared purpose, while uplifting the vital role educators play every day.
Whether your school is large or small, organizing a Walk-In is an opportunity to engage your community and advocate for what matters most; safe learning environments, respect for educators, and the resources necessary for student success.
MNEA encourages schools across the area to participate and host their own Walk-In events. If you’re ready to get involved, you can register your school’s event and join this growing movement.
👉 Register your Walk-In event locally: https://forms.gle/wBEA2AwjV6hYjB2a7
👉 Register your Walk-In event nationally: https://www.nea.org/resource-library/walk-toolkit-may-day#register
Together, these collective actions help amplify the voices of educators and ensure that public education remains a priority.
Join MNEA Walk-Ins and be part of a movement that stands up for students, schools, and communities.

Civication is how educators turn everyday classroom realities into real legislative impact. When lawmakers hear directly from the people who teach, support, and serve students every day, it moves the conversation from talking points to truth—and builds the collective power it takes to win for public schools. Show up, share your story, and help move decision-makers to act.
As educators, you are the experts on what students and schools truly need, and your voice matters in shaping the policies that affect classrooms across Tennessee. Civication gives you a chance to stand with fellow members, elevate educator voice at the Capitol, and advocate for the resources, respect, and protections our students and profession deserve.
