The Metropolitan Nashville Education
Foundation is the charitable arm of the Metropolitan Nashville Education
Association (MNEA). The fund was chartered to do business in the
state of Tennessee
and contributions are tax deductible since MNEF is a bona fide charity
under 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The
Foundation administers two funds that grant scholarships to graduates of
Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
The MNEF Fund is granted on a one
time basis to freshman college students to help them with expenses.
The Johnella H. Martin Fund is a renewable
scholarship that students can receive each year of a four-year
undergraduate program of studies. The Johnella
H. Martin Fund is named for a distinguished former president of MNEA who
was dedicated to teachers, students and the newly created Metropolitan
Nashville Public School System.
Gifts to MNEF, interest from the
Foundation’s modest endowments and other money are combined to provide
scholarship grants to deserving MNPS students who are committed to becoming
school teachers in MNPS.
